Abstract
As a user I would like to be able to project my potential winnings in my PoolTogether savings account over X time and visualize how much I have gained/saved
Problem
We have no visually appealing tools that users can play with. Most users will only see an estimated APR & estimated odds when depositing and estimated odds on their account page after depositing.
Rationale
WealthSimple (an excellent Canadian robo-investor / stock trading app / savings account) provides a simple tool to project savings for retirement. I’ve used this to help determine auto depositing schedules. This tool will help users see the long term benefits of a no-loss protocol, visualizing not winning over 10 years an account will grow massively with monthly deposits alone. Viewing potential prizes as well makes depositing into PoolTogether a no brainer.
Deliverables
A PR for a “PoolTogether Savings Calculator” tool built into the tools app modelled after WealthSimple. The tool should be designed similarly to the WealthSimple calculator, a few small inputs and a simple graph showing the calculations over time.
Specification
Potential inputs for the Calculator:
- Cadence of deposits
- Length of time to view
- Manually adjusting the prize distribution
- The calculations should default to using the Prize Tier for the upcoming Draw ID from the Draw Calculator. This data could then be overwritten manually in the UI to view estimates based on potential Prize Tiers.
- It would be much simpler to calculate an “Estimated APR” for a given Prize Tier then extrapolate from there. If this is done, then it should be presented as such: Given X Prize Tier, the Estimated APR is Y. Given Y Estimated APR, savings over Z years look like (graph).
- Stretch: Having bands for the “Estimated APR” would be ideal. Letting a user slide from “Unlucky” to “Lucky” to see more prizes would be really cool.
